Last year we presented in honor of "A Caretakers Wish" A Bloodhound puppy named Lucy who went to Wheatridge Colorado to be part of the Search and Rescue Team.
Here is Lucy in Training
Brian and Lucy
Now... Just one year later...... She is in full gear and already working. Check her out with her owner/handler.
We had a Bloodhound Reunion at this years show with over eight Bloodhounds in the SAR field that came to visit us.
Thank you Dawn and Kevin and "A Caretakers Wish" for allowing us to become such a special part of this event!
O.K...O.K.... People have been bugging me to get up the new pics of the pups when we went on our trip out to the lake. We ran in to some friends of ours and took some of these pics for you all to enjoy.
These girls sure liked the outing and loved going for a ride.
Check'em out >>>
We would also like to add that will be micro-chipping our pups at the new owners request at no additional charge!
"We
had an interest for raising AKC Bloodhounds for SAR (Search and Rescue)
and out of a few best looking dogs, placing them in the show ring.
We
have placed several of our wonderful Bloodhounds with our local law
enforcement for SAR. From what I understand, once the job is done they
get treated to a big thick juicy steak! What a life!" (Davidson Kennels)
HERE <<<< are a couple of letters I posted a while back from people in Search and Rescue who have some of our pups.
It takes a special person to be in Search and Rescue as it does the animal to track. It's not the dog that needs trained...it's the person. There are many handlers that will tell you the dog already knows his job, it's up to you to learn yours.
We have a wonderful litter of puppies as of 05/22/2012 that will be ready for their new home around 07/20/2012. HERE <<< are some pics of the new bunch. We have them in all colors, Reds, Liver-nosed Reds, Black and Tans, and believe it or not..... Liver and Tan!
Please give us a call or email to find out more about this fantastic litter of puppies from Harley and Hannah.
We are taking names on our waiting list now so hurry and reserve your space now!
Now that you have your new Bloodhound Puppy, they all require special
things for them to grow up to be a mature healthy dog. Other than the
obvious things such as food, water, and shelter, they also require a
great deal of attention and love.
Owning a bloodhound can be tricky business if you aren't prepared.
Just as anything you would want, do your research first to determine if
this is what you are really looking for. Remember, you don't own a
Bloodhound, they own you.
Training your Bloodhound puppies can be very challenging at first but
also very rewarding later. Although the Bloodhound has a mind of his
own and once the nose takes over, it won't matter what you do to get his
attention, the ears and the eyes stop working and the nose is working
the brain to the fullest.

On a final note, Hannah is doing well and we can't wait for her puppies to be born. We figured that the pups should be here around the 23rd of May which is only 2 weeks!!! The stork is resting up ready for the big day!
I would like to close today by sharing this video of our grandson playing with puppies...............
We are so happy that our pups are doing what they are bred for...a job in Search and Rescue.
It's been a while since my last post and a lot of activities have transpired since then. We have had a very emotional year, especially the last quarter of 2011.
Some of the latest and greatest news is we now have 10...yup, 10 pups out in the field of Search and Rescue...7 of them are right here in Colorado.
We are just as happy and proud as the new owners.
I would like to share a letter we received recently from one of the pups owners:
(Letter from an owner in law enforcement..pup was a little over 9 weeks old)
Deb,
So Elvis really didn't end up being so much of an Elvis, so he's a Riley. Just wanted to let you know how his first training session went. In the dark in a place he's never been, in a harness he'd never worn, he tracked two different people in two different locations without watching where they went off to with perfect precision and no direction from me. It was amazing! The two handlers I was with were amazed. One of them commented the puppy already tracked better then his working Malinois.
I wish now I'd taken video because it was simply amazing. The runner would drop a treat a few yards out before completing their 50 yard dash and every time Riley got to the treat his air breaks came on and he went to the exact spot. I just can't tell you how delighted I am and how amazed. Part of it is his breed I'm sure, but in my experience with police dogs it has a lot more to do with breeding then breed, so serious kudos to you for a job well done!
I'll continue working him on my own till January due to my schedule not allowing me to train with Al till then. After that, I'm hoping to take him on patrol in May and I'm hoping he'll be fully active and certified at 12 months.
I'll keep you posted with updates! I'm going to try and have our town paper do an article on him at the least and I'd really like to see if the Newspaper would do a story on him. We'll see!
We love hearing from all of the owners and we will be sharing more as time goes on.
Here is a pic of one of the pups hard at work (training) with a handler that works at a Fire Dept. here in Colorado.
Here is another:
Good afternoon,
I just wanted to say hello, and wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and a healthy, happy New Year.
Both Al, and Brian's bloodhounds are great trackers it has been fun to have the puppies at training. Both hounds are growing like weeds, and are such beautiful girls.
I will be ready for a puppy in the spring. I am getting excited to start training a new puppy. My wife and I both prefer a male K-9, and look forward to coming to visit your kennels when you have your next litter.
Take care and stay safe.
Happy Holidays
Special Deputy, K-9 Handler in one of the counties here in Colorado
We are going to have several litters in the springtime and expect some fantastic colors...
Stay tuned for more!
